My Journey

Bottom of the 9th…2 outs….35,000 on their feet…game on the line…Slam!…Back to reality, back to a quiet place in Colorado where the only sound heard is the repetitive keystrokes of a computer keyboard and occasional mouse clicks. There are no accolades here, no screaming fans, no game winning hit in front of thousands. Yet I will tell you that same energy remains for the guy behind those computer screens in Colorado due to his line of workin software engineering.

My name is Daniel Della-Rose, and the description of a ballplayer’s dream was how i grew up. I have warm memories of throwing and playing with anything I could get my hands on. It progressed quickly in to sanctioned sports along with my love for math and science. I was taught to question the status quo and why things happen the way they do which has contributed to my qualities of deep thinking and problem solving. But it wasn’t all cakes and rainbows growing up. I was a sophmore in highschool when my parents split, a year removed from a fatal accident my family was involved in where 2 people lost their lives. I threw myself into the camaraderie of my teammates on the field, it became my identity. It filled my well, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life, life made sense.

Fast forward to after highschool and college, its time to get a job. A reality for most athletes is there comes a time when the body cannot physically perform at a certain level anymore. My mistake was that I did not plan for this reality and create a plan B. So I found some entry level jobs here and there to see what I liked. I ultimately went back to school to get my business degree. I loved the math and finance involved with business and pursued a banking job. I rose through a few ranks there before taking a job as an insurance agent to better my life.
